In what appears as a final onslaught against former President Olusegun Obasanjo in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the southwest, all his political associates in the executive organs of the party both at the national, zonal and state levels have been axed by the National Working Committee (NWC) in obedience to court order.
The NWC said its decision was based on dispute in the Ogun State and
south West Zonal Exco of the Party, over series of suits filed on the
matter, amongst which include FHC/L/CS/1248/2011, FHC/L/CS/282/2012 and
FHC/L/CS/347/2012.
With what happened at the NWC meeting of Thursday where the decision
was taken against the ‘Obasanjo’s boys’ in the PDP, there are
indications that the suspended national secretary of the party, Prince
Olagunsoye Oyinlola may not be coming back to the PDP as national
secretary, as NWC is planning a zonal congress soon.
It nullified the South-west congress of March 2012. The implication of
this, is that the fate of Olagunsoye Oyinlola is sealed.
Former President Obasanjo nominated Bode Mustapha as the National
Auditor of the party with former governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Olusegun
Oni as the Southwest zonal vice chairman, but the NWC in a statement by
the National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, said that in obedience to
the court order, that “Bode Mustapha is sacked from office as the
national auditor”.
In his place, the NWC said that Alhaji Fatai Adewole Adeyanju is the
validly elected National Auditor of the Peoples Democratic Party.
